i've tried so many times to explain to my parents why i don't go to church -- i feel no real connection to a higher power in a stuffy building with florescent lights. but outside i feel an overwhelming sense of peace, and i feel protected by whatever god is out there. give in to the calming force of nature! :)

Pretty pictures! Yesterday was like this for us. I was working from home and JiT took a snowday so after 5, we put on our snow gear to shovel the parking lot for our building, then crunched over to the park and made snow angels. It was so nice to actually enjoy it. Sometimes I get frustrated that the world seems to ignore snowdays and just go on with business as usual. Glad you were able to slow down and revel in it!

We don't get much snow here where I live now, but I grew up in a ski resort town and loved waking up to freshly fallen snow. I think standing in it, being quiet and taking deep breaths is the best kind of meditation.

By the way the rice and beans dish wasn't too spicy. I deseeded the jalapeno and removed the white vein so it's just adds a bit of heat and great flavor.

I love those pictures - they are beautiful. And I totally know what you mean. Snow can be so peaceful. I really would not mind a huge snow storm. I'd love to be snowed in for a day or two, even if I had to work from home. It would be nice.

I love giving into my inner hermit... One of my favorite weekends in January was the one where I did not see anyone all weekend & just rested & knitted & read. It was so wonderful - I need another weekend like that to re-charge my battery!

I hate the snow after Christmas, when it just sticks around for another few months making everything difficult - but when there's a fresh snowfall and everything is quiet, soft and white, and there's nowhere I need to be... it's beautiful. Snow can be a real hassle, but if you have no where to go it's amazing. I love how it dampens the sound in a place so you really feel like the world is less echoey and huge, and more small and cozy.
