I only work a day and a half at my office, so I think I often miss out on the good gossip. However, since we work with a forensic psychiatric population, there often are all sorts of crazy work stories that get spread around. Most I can't tell, sadly, but we did have a guy come and poop in our lobby. Fortunately, I learned this through gossip channels and not actually witnessing it. Ew.

At one of my first jobs, I became close with a male co-worker (who was gay). I was going through a divorce at the time.

We would often go on short walks outside the building to talk & get away for a bit. Turns out the office didn't know he was gay & the rumors started there.

My ex showed up at work one day (nice, huh?) and saw us out walking & totally lost his temper.

He sent me flowers with just an initial on the note. I didn't know who sent them for a couple of weeks. So once I did know , we kind of kept it to ourselves that we were dating. people began to be curious after a time. obviously it continued because we have been together almost 16 yrs and married almost 11 next month.

i work in an office of ALL ladies. so talk about drama. i always giggle at the silliness floating around.

when i first started, i tried squeezing my way into a certain group of gals. they seemed the most like me. i'm easy to get along with, so i had no problem weening my way in. during this time there was a lot of buzz going over. but i always seemed to be on the outside. after befriending these certain girls we got pretty close really fast. finally, the one day, we're eating lunch and the one girl just straight out asks me..." are you seriously sleeping with dr. rubin?" {he's one of the doctors in our office on the other side of the physical therapy wing} i was really confused seeing as i've never even met dr. rubin. apparently, that was the rumor. how and why that got started i'll never know.

I'm currently in the dating pool and my coworkers are (for some reason) really curious to see what men are like in their 20's consider that they are all 40+

I went on a date and of course the next morning they all showed up at my cubicle to hear about how it went. I gave them the readers digest version, it was good, he held the door, I hope he calls, etc.

Somehow by noon everyone in the office knew about the date and apparently I had said that I thought he was the one, which I did not say... Needless to say, I know longer let my coworkers know when I begin dating someone!

At my work (airport) we have a conference room that is used by the local police department & airport security for meetings. We would see the same group of guys and get to know them all really well. One day a woman came in and said hi to us at the front desk and then proceeded down the hall for the meeting. Now, being at the airport, we have to know who everyone is and where they are going, so we stoped her and asked her to check in...she gave us a funny look...then we figured it out, she was actually a he, and was one of sherifs that came to the meetings! It was quite a shock...and quite awkward! And let me tell you, that gossip-mill was a-turning!

Hmm... the gossip mill, eh? Well, years ago one of my male coworkers and I went to lunch almost every single day. He was going through a bad break-up and I tend to be Little Miss Fix it or Little Miss Sunshine so I was helping him through it. Evidently our co-workers thought that since we were going to lunch each day that we were dating, and people approached me to ask me if we were "together." It couldn't have been further from the truth for various reasons and to this day it still kind of makes me chuckle.

Kevin and i got engaged in Seattle which is three hours behind the east coast, that night i called my parents and my sister to tell them the news, the next day-understandably-i called and texted all of my friends. well one friend/co-worker got her messages confused and convinced all of my other co-workers that we had no just gotten engaged but had eloped, in Seattle, the day after we got engaged. that news spread like wildfire, resulting in one co-worker calling me at 6am Seattle time begging me to call her on her cell phone as SOON as i got this message. she was super confused, was working with my mom and thought she was in a tight situation because she thought that i hadn't told my parents that we were in fact eloping...the funniest thing about this whole thing is i hadn't worked there for over a year! i love my jobs...
