You've Got Mail!

This past weekend was one of those achingly beautiful weekends. The days were warm, hot really, if you sat outside for any great length of time. It was the kind of weekend that demanded walking around through the grass barefoot. Sitting on the deck with friends watching the river lazily pass by as the sun sets. The smell of grilled food wafting through the air mixed in with the freshly cut grass. It was absolutely splendid.

One of the highlights of my weekend was getting mail. I know most of us get mail on a daily basis but I don't often get mail that makes me squeeee with delight or eagerly open a package with anticipation. Friday, I received a new book from Vanessa. She's cleaning off her book shelf and has been offering them up to fellow bloggers. The one I requested comes with the simple stipulation that after I've finished the book, I pass it on someway to another fellow blogger who will then read and record their name in the book continuing to pass it on when they've finished. I love the idea behind this.

On Saturday I received a lovely handwritten note from Nora that made me want to call her up and go to Happy Hour with her (why do all my great blog friends have to live so far away?). If you're not reading her blog-- what's wrong with you? She is one of the most genuine bloggers out there.

I also received this from Katie (another fabulous blogger you should all be reading)!

A box full of goodness that came complete with two books (Beauty and The Thirteenth Tale), Cadbury Creme eggs (my absolute favorite candy that only makes an appearance this time of year) and Some Dude's fry sauce (I've never heard of it, but its awesome). What made the box even better were the purple post-its Katie attached to the front of each item explaining why she included it in the box. Thanks Katie, I LOVED it!

Mail in any form makes me happy, but when it comes in the form of snail mail, its NOT a bill AND its from a blogger it makes me even happier. Which is why I need to continue the trend. Send me your address (if I don't already have it) and I'll continue Nora's note writing project continuing the blog love. I'm also thinking that I need to keep the good karma going and do a giveaway with a box of goodness for one lucky blogger like Katie. More on that later in the week!

What was the last bit of mail you received that made you extraordinarily happy?

Cosmo is about the only thing I get in the mail that's not a bill. ;)

I love the 'passing of the book' idea! So cool!!

I'll email you my snail mail for the note passing. Sounds fun to me! I've got the time and who doesn't like getting fun mail?!

Well, in my case it wasn't what I received but what I SENT. I loved finishing schools apps and scholarship paperwork.

You had a blue ribbon day in the mail department! I love getting mail too, not bills, but real mail. The last item I got was an Easter Card from a friend. LOVE MAIL!

sometimes it makes me a bit sad that our world is so over-technoligized (is that even a word???) that snail mail has become a "treat." Regardless, it's one of my favorites!!!!

When my grandmother was alive & I was in college, she would send me one letter a week just to make sure I was getting mail in my campus mailbox. Does it get any cuter than that? (the answer is no ;) ).

P.S. I am a stationary hound & go through about 10 cards a month. I LOVE to send snail mail!

The book exchange is a great idea =) Glad you got lots of mail; makes the USPS more fun and it's always exciting when it's unexpected.

Thanks for the sweet shoutout, as always. Happy Tuesday!

I love all the post-it comments. Talk about personalizing an already personal gift. Too cute!

The last piece of mail I got that I liked? Wow, no idea. A childhood friend of mine writes notes every once in a while. It's always such a pleasant surprise to hear from her. Which prompted me to add writing notes to friends to my list of monthly challenges!

i love mail, real live mail with a stamp and everything...its the best, the last snail mail thing that was not a bill or junk was a thank you for the flowers i sent my friend just before she passed away, sad, but still nice mail!

the last cool thing i got in the mail was a double-card from nora :) so i had to send one back. also, i'm trying to reconnect with my great aunt who lives in arizona and helped me while i was living out there, so i sent her a letter too.

Hooray for mail! The book exchange is a great idea and I'd never even thought of linking blogging to something tangible like a package.

The best mail I got recently arrived today--a happy graduation card. :)

I love mail! My parents send me a card everyweek (while I'm away) and I love those. I've also gotten a couple of wedding invitations lately...not that those made me happy ;)

Believe it or not, the thing last thing that made me happy in the mail was my application for Fresh Air Fund!! So excited to participate in it and be a host family!!!

Aw, nice! I dislike getting the mail. It's usually some sort of bill and the other day it was a rejection letter. Boo. I guess the last piece of mail that made me happy was ... the Star Wars toys I bought for my BF? Haha sad.
