Blogger Friend Awards

When I began blogging oh so long ago, I had no idea where it would lead me. I had no idea it would become such an outlet for me, a place for me to turn when I needed to vent; a place for me to turn when I needed to share some exciting news; a place for me to make a connection.

Making connections is what caught me the most off guard. I never expected to make so many wonderful connections. The connection that goes far beyond just reading and commenting on blogs. We become invested in each others lives, we're curious as to what's happening or how a certain situation may have turned out, and we reach out across the internet to form a community. While there are some bloggers I have more in common with than others, I consider all of you a part of my community. I really appreciate each and every one of your comments, thoughts, and prayers. YOU are what makes blogging worthwhile and make me realize what a small world we do indeed live in.

Last week, Andy gave me an award. Its been awhile since I've passed out awards, but there are a few bloggers who deserve an extra shout out for being great blogger friends during the past few weeks. Its called the Blogger Friend Award:

These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated.

These bloggers helped by keeping my spirits lifted, giving me ideas to entertain a three year old, assuring me that I was not a bad person for not liking children 100% of the time, and just being all round great friends during these past few weeks. Their emails, gchats, phone calls, and cards mean a lot to me. Many, many thanks. If you don't already know these lovely ladies, take a few minutes and stop by their blogs and say hi.

Auburn Kat -- I'm not sure who stumbled upon who first but for the past several months I've had the privilege of calling Auburn Kat my friend. One of the qualities I admire most in Auburn Kat is her unwillingness to settle for anything less than she knows she deserves. She inspires me to do the same. She is a kind hearted, wonderful person who knows what she wants and goes after it. I also blame her for the bag of Reese's peanut butter eggs I bought (and may or may not have consumed) last week.

Little Fish -- She is the big city Jewish relative I didn't know I had. While seemingly one would think we should have nothing in common, with every conversation we find ourselves saying "Me too!" to another aspect of our personality or dream for the future and even share the same taste in notecards. She is one of the sweetest people out there and her friendship means a lot to me. Little Fish is a kind, gentle soul whose inner strength comes though in her posts. She sends encouraging notes just when I need them. She is all round an awesome person.

Jen -- makes me laugh on a daily basis. She is a fellow history buff who although she hails from the state which we Ohioians do not name, is an east coast transplant. She is helping her fiance raise his 13 year old son and her parenting skills never cease to amaze me. She has taken on her role in her instant family with incredible grace and maintains an absolute fun spirit while doing so. I am in awe of everything she accomplishes on a daily basis. She also has an adorable Golden Retriever, who like my own dog, forgets that he is a dog.

Nora -- the most recent addition to my Google Reader is a new friend who I came to know after receiving a package from her for the Be My Blog Valentine project. Her thoughtful replies to comments and emails about life always make me think. She provided several great ideas to help me keep small children entertained when they invaded my home and I am sure without them, I would have gone insane. She always has an encouraging word and more recently helps me pass the time on Friday afternoons when all I want to do is start the weekend.

Who are some of the bloggers that make your day? Were you surprised by the sense of community that comes with blogging?

Aw, thanks! You gave me goosebumps. I love reading your blog and am so glad I was your Blog Valentine =)

Blogging and the community has turned into a wonderful place for me to receive support, give advice (only when asked, I think?), and above all, make new friends all across the U.S. and world.

Big hugs to you and glad you are feeling better!
