How I Spent My Weekend

This weekend was wonderful and I am almost sad to see it end. I skipped out on what I was supposed to do and came to the conclusion that I need to do it more often. What did I do?
  • Slept in. Twice. Words cannot describe how much I love sleeping in. Leisurely waking up, deciding I wasn't ready to face the world, rolling back over and going to sleep for a few more hours. Really, sleeping in should be mandatory at least once a week.
  • Went shopping for a new cell phone. Unfortunately the cell phone sales man though we were still in 1950 and apparently views women as unintelligent beings. He actually called me "pretty little lady" (yeah nothing little about me and I hadn't showered yet, so not so pretty either) and told me he hoped I had a man to "look after me." I'm pretty sure I could have kicked his ass, so I may or may not have told him off and walked out before it came to that.
  • Took myself the movie Milk based on a recommendation from Little Fish. I loved this movie and cannot find the words to describe how seeing it will affect you and make you think. We must continue the fight for equality for ALL.
  • Spent the evening with my brother and our friend Brandon hitting up the Circuit City liquidation sale. Brandon and I were the two hoping for good deals. We bought nothing and my bother is now the owner of a Flip and some expensive radio walkie talkie things that have a range of 27 miles. And yes, I plan on borrowing the flip so there may or may not be some fun videos of my dog making an appearance every now and then.
  • The three of us also hit up two Walmarts in a 20 mile span in search of an 80GB Zune. Yes, going to Walmart on a Saturday night is a socially acceptable activity when you live in a small town. You're jealous right? We turned the toy section, electronics, and car aisle into our playground.
  • Most of today was spent attempting to childproof our house. I don't think we made it very far though. My stepbrother, his wife, their 3 year old and almost 1 year old daughter are coming to stay with us in a few weeks. It will be interesting to say the least, but I am looking forward to it. Ask me how I feel about it after two days.
  • My grandparents dropped by unannounced. This causes some anxiety, especially when involving my grandmother. There may have been a very Gilmore Girls like moment when upon announcing that my grandma was sitting in our living room when my mom (who thought the grandmother was still outside) let out a very sarcastic "wonderful!" Awkward moment all round.
  • Now, I'm currently enjoying the Grammy's and all the live twittering going on.
So tell me, how was your weekend? What did you do?

i was supposed to: return some stuff at walgreen's, go to the post office, write 2 cover letters & 3 networking letters, research for a paper, and do some school reading.

what i actually did: got accidentally drunk with friends on friday night, had lunch AND dinner with my parents on saturday while they were in town, watched DVR'd episodes of cold case, shopped for cardstock for bachelorette invites, walked my dog 10 zillion times, and watched the grammies.

YES for taking weekends off! thanks for giving me that little push--sometimes i need someone else to tell me that it's ok to goof off. glad to hear that your weekend off went well!

I adore sleeping in! I wish my dogs would let me do it more.

My husband and I totally consider wandering around Target an acceptable Friday night activity.

Sleeping in is wonderful. I did so on Saturday morning. I was just so comfy and cozy in bed with the noise of the rain to make me feel so relaxed that I just could not help but to keep sleeping.

Ah Gilmore Girls, the definitive show for strained family relationships. And the best pop culture references that side of 30 Rock.

Sorry it was tense with the g-parents.

I worked, did homework, and finally managed to convince myself that working out was a good idea. I'm trying to hold on to that last feeling.

I think I may have a little down time next weekend.

So, your weekend was way more productive than mine, obviously. I slept during most of it.

Oh, and what cellphone did you get?

Katie -- I am so glad that you kicked back this weekend!

Erin -- my dog has been trained to let us sleep in. :-)

Lbluca77-- Rain always makes me sleepy.

Katie -- The Gilmore Girls pretty much defines my and my moms relationship with the grandmother. I hope you get to relax next weekend!

Andy--the cellphone sales guy pissed me off and I walked out without buying anything. I was not about to contribute to his commission.

I can't stop laughing over this post!

Sleeping is definitely one of the best things in the world! Seriously, if I have kids I don't know how I'm going to handle this whole not sleeping in thing. Even the idea of it makes me cringe!

WAIT, you mean to tell me that people don't usually go to Wal-Mart on a Saturday night to hangout? Seriously, going to Wal-Mart on a Saturday night is part of the culture in my little hometown...well that is after you drive 20 minutes to get there...

What did I do? Went to Wagamamas Friday night. Saturday I went out for my friend's birthday. And Sunday more drunkenness. And sleeping in, obviously!

I slept in, which was WONDERFUL! I probably could have slept all day. Your grandmother cracks me up! That's what I say about mine from Georgia. Good thing she doesn't really just drop in.

I am so jealous that you slept in...twice. What is that like? Is there a pill to facilitate that?

Also, Milk is amazing. Josh Brolin blew me away and Sean Penn was amazing as always. Loved it.

First and foremost after seeing your comments on all the blogs I read I'm glad I finally found yours :)

Secondly, totally agree with you on the sleeping in thing.

I desperately want to see MILK.

And I don't think there is anything wrong with shopping on a Saturday night. Nothing at all!
