Winter Giveaway

Winter and I don’t really get along, we never have actually. One would think having lived my entire life in the Midwest I would be used to snow, but I can assure you that’s not the case. Its not something I really get used to. Often its something that I barely manage to tolerate. Its like a trade off for getting to experience three other grand seasons, Mother’s Natures way of flipping me off. During winter I go into hibernation mode preferring to say in under a blanket reading or watching a movie.

Once I exhaust the on-demand movies, I turn to the extensive DVD collection my family has amassed over the years. I’ll watch just about anything and everything. In the mood for John Wayne and some gun slinging? Sure why not. Feeling like a kid? I’ve got The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Peter Pan. You want a musical? Gypsy or the Sound of Music will fit the bill. I watch Gone With the Wind over and over during the cold winter months. Sometimes I spend entire days watching Lifetime movies. Yes, I know the plot is the same and halfway through the movie you have the entire thing figured out but its just so easy to get sucked in!

One movie that I also watch a lot during the long winter days is The Goonies! Now, I know that Gone With the Wind isn’t up everyone’s alley, but if you haven’t seen The Goonies, I don’t know what you are waiting for. If you have seen it and don’t like it, I don’t want to know, it will seriously break my heart. How could you not love it, its like a who's who of the 80's! If I am flipping around the different tv channels and come across this movie, I will drop whatever I am doing to watch and see if the Goonies get away from and out wit the Fratellis. I still hold my breath when the chase picks up. I still gasp when I think someone is going to get hurt. I still silently cheer when the two unlikely heroes save the day. Its just that good!

So in an attempt to chase away the winter blahs, I decided a movie giveaway was in order. Leave a comment by next Thursday and tell me what movie or movies you could (and do) watch over and over. One reader will have the chance to expand their DVD collection with this DVD:

Because really, I think everyone should own this movie! I’ll use Random.org to pick a winner next Friday.

Great give away! I love The Goonies!!

One movie I can watch over and over is Almost Famous. Mostly because I wish I was cool enough to be a rock groupie like Penny Lane, minus the drug overdose.

Every single night that I stay at my boyfriend's place we put The Goonies on for our falling asleep tv. I am usually zonked out even before the Truffle Shuffle. He only has it on VHS (ack) so I'm sure he would love an upgrade!

I have never seen that movie. I know, I need to get cultured :)

I love watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants over and over again.

I hate winter too...I go outside as little as possible. I think if it's going to be this cold, then it should snow :)

however - i have seen the following movies several times and will drop whatever i'm doing if they're on tv to watch 'em. and i just very well may own a couple...coming to america, ghost, home alone 1 and/or 2, lean on me, trading places, the breakfast club...and i'm truly shocked other commenters said shawshank redemption and corinna corinna because those are two of my faves as well....there's a couple more but i'm now drawing a blank...

OMG, The Goonies. This one time, I was at the mall with my entire family. My BIL gets separated somehow and before you know it, he is bellowing through the halls of this crowded mall, "HEY YOU GUYYYYSS..."

I love the Goonies! I didn't see it until a few years ago, I don't know how I missed it as a kid.

My three(ish) DVDs are Just Friends, Waitress, and 30 Rock: Season 1.

What can I say, Liz Lemon is a hero of mine. :)

(PS My word verification was fables...it just seemed fitting for this giveaway.)

My favorite watch over and over again movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's. I wish I was as smooth as Holly Golightly
