Winter Suggestions

Its been a busy few days here in blogland! First BlogSeret, then Blogswap, and finally today I'm back on the blog It feels good to be back in my own space. Sort of like coming home. No matter where you've been or how long you've been gone, its always good to get back home to sleep in your own bed.

Here in Ohio winter is setting in and in all honesty, I'm not ready for it. I think its come too early this year. I don't do cold well. I don't do driving on ice well. I hibernate. I leave my house to go to work, then come home. If I have to make any stops I do it along the way. Once I get home thats where I stay. Quite simply, winter puts me in a funk.

Why shouldn't I hibernate? Roadtrips come to a halt in the winter because they are too hard to plan with the weather. Its dark when I leave work in the evenings. I don't get to see the sun for days. True the snow makes everything look pretty, but it gets gray and dirty. Holing up in the house seems like a great option. That said, I need things to do while I am in my hibernation. I need some winter suggestions. Have you read a book that I need to add my reading list? Have a new recipe for something fun I need to try? Is there an old movie I may have forgotten about that I need to watch?

Now I am off to drink a mug of hot cocoa complete with marshmallow fluff, read a few pages of my book, and maybe take a nap. I am breaking my hibernation tonight to go see a midnight showing of Twilight with one of the best buds (keep your fingers crossed that the snow cooperates)!

Don't forget about the Charity Challenge!

That sounds like a perfect night to me! I am planning on playing Wii and sewing for an upcoming fashion show all winter.

Funny thing, I'd do the same thing if I had the time. Difference is, it's like 60° here and I'm dying.

I'm a wimp.

Wow that sounds like a great night. Can I come over? I'll bring marshmellows.

Have a great time tonight at the midnight showing! No spoilers!

I completely agree, we should all be able to hibernate in the winter. Hmmm, I recommend Dead Witch Walking. It's such a fun book!

I'm still reading away at Twilight! It's just so good and I can't wait to see the movie!

BTW, I am the same exact way when it comes to the winter time, except I still plan to drive home to see my family a lot, so it just means I have to watch the radar to see if I can make the trip or not!

use this time to rent the dvd's to a tv show that you never got into but know is good. like a lost, arrested development or something.

Coconut -- The Wii is so much fun, I need to get one. Sewing for a fashion show sounds like fun, but I'm not crafty. LOL.

Andy -- Yes, you are wimp! I would love 60 degrees right about now.

Babyjb-- Did you know that there are chocolate mallows now? I promise no spoilers. I will tell you that all the teenagers at the midnight moive made me feel old.

Katie -- we should all hibernate, its a great way to save $$ too. I'm adding the book to my list, thanks!

Auburn Kat -- another reason we need to be friends in RL, but I guess we have to wait till Spring now?

Alexa -- GREAT idea! I honestly didn't think about that. There are a lot of shows I would like to watch but I hate to watch in the middle.

Little Fish -- Ohhh, please do they sound good. I do like to bake but I have been trying to expand my cooking horizons as well so if you have any must have cooking recipes you can send those too. :-)

I am in that terrible "funk" now. I only leave the house after using my "automatic start" in the car. I run from the warm house to the warm car to the warm store. I will only park close enough to the store so that I can start my car again from the store. Hate the cold, snow and ice. I am not sure where I should be living, but I don't think it is NJ.

I'm looking for a Twilgith review asap. If you need a book to read, I'm in the middle of "A Dirty Job" about a guy who is basically the grim reaper. Its actually really sarcastic and funny. Perfect transition out of Twilight-land.

Also, I'm going to be posting on a recipe for CrockPot Beef Stroganoff (just need to get the pics out of the cam). Awesome for winter b/c its warm AND its already ready when you walk in the door after work! Happy weekend!

Oh, and we'll be in Streetsboro/Auroroa (truckstop outside of Cleveland) for Thanksgiving. How far it that from you?

Awww, I love winter. I mean, your assessment about what a bitch it can be is right. But, I still love it. The only thing I don't love is waking up at 5AM during the week to walk the dog. In the dark. And cold. And brrrrr...

We're all about Netflix in the winter (to make up for barely using it in the summer). Ever seen the HBO TV show, The Wire? If not, watch it. All five seasons. It's an amazing show!
