Q&A 1.4

Happy Thursday!! The week has gone by quickly and most evenings sped right by, can I get a "hell yeah" for that? The question and answer segment is concluding tonight with questions from two of my favorite bloggers -- Auburn Kat and Chickbug.

Auburn Kat wants to know:
Where do you like to shop?

What is a really weird quirky thing that you do?

Ahh, shopping! A subject very near and dear to my heart. Once in a great while, I will spend a Sunday afternoon meandering through a mall either alone or with a best bud gazing at all the newest fashions, drooling over shoes, peering through glass display cases filled with sparkling gemstones. Sometimes I love to just go window shopping. Sounds like fun right? Now add to it baggy pants wearing, profanity using teenagers, mothers pushing strollers full of bags while their little tykes run free, and older gentleman sitting on benches guarding their wives purchases and you have reasons that I typically avoid the mall except for occasional sporadic quick trip. I'm an avoider so it should come as no surprise that I tend to do most of my shopping from the comfort of my own home. Sure a weekly trip to Walmart or Target to stock up on every day essentials usually occurs during one of my lunch hours. But my heart (and a good chunk of my annual salary) belongs to QVC.

My mom began watching and ordering from QVC two decades ago. I have been raised on the belief that you can pick up your phone, log on to the computer, and in three to five business days a box bearing my three favorite letters magically appears on my doorstep. Clothes, makeup, hair products, kitchen items, jewelry, among other things for the most part, all come from QVC. I know what I like, what size I wear, what I think looks like fun, and for me its much more enjoyable to order from QVC. And if I don't like something, I can just send it back. No questions asked, no standing in line at serivce desks explaining that my grandma was sadly mistaken the turtleneck is not the most flattering neckline for my awesome cleavage. As you may or may not know QVC is headquartered in West Chester, PA, the Mecca for us home shopping devotees. Every year Big T and I make our annual pilgrimage. Honestly, I LOVE QVC and would give up any job for one to work at QVC for the discount alone (Hi, QVC HR, hire me! PLEASE!)

I am also a fan of and ebay. It pains me to pay full price for anything and I am always on the lookout for a good deal. On Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) instead of getting up at the crack of dawn and going to stand in line freezing my ass off to be one of the first people through the door, I usually stay in bed, turn on my computer and shop away. Did you know that the same deals that in the store are also online and sometimes you can get them before those crazies standing in line? Just a hint. :-)

As for strange quirks. I have many oddities that make me, well me. One quirk that I typically dont admit to is crying at goodbyes. Goodbyes that take place in real life, on tv, in books, or in the movies. If there is a goodbye chances are I am crying or at the very least tearing up. No not goodbyes that occur on a daily basis like saying goodnight to my co-workers or my parents as I waltz out of the house. But goodbyes to family or friends I may not see for a while. A goodbye I say as I am pulling out of my best friends driveway watching her in the rear view mirror already missing her because she doesnt have many friends in the city. A goodbye on the cell phone talking to a great friend before he embarks on a journey that will take him halfway across the world. A goodbye that a character on a past favorite television show tells her co-workers (like Abbey on ER tonight), a goodbye like Rhett gives Scarlett in one of the last few scenes of Gone With the Wind. There's just something about goodbyes that gets me, every. single. time. I always find myself hastily wiping away a stray tear and blaming it on allergies. Maybe its not weird, but I'm a tough girl, I don't cry, atleast not in front of people.

Chickbug asks:
ok, this is my standard "ask me anything" question. If you could have someone only read ONE post you've published, which one would it be and why?

This was probably one of the toughest questions. Would I want people to read about me getting even, my stories of drunk dialing my best friends dad, or would I rather them read something more serious. I think it would be my Going With the Flow post because its one of my favorite. It was written during a time I was struggling with a few things and emphasizes my belief in being open to new ideas and new avenues as they present themselves. The post also includes a fun memory I have from my childhood of time spent with my grandfather. Overall, its how I try to approach life.

Thank you all who asked questions. This was a fun series and led to many inspiring ideas for future posts!

Oh good Lord! You need to meet my Mama! My Daddy swears he can never go out of town b/c she will end up dropping way too many $$$ on QVC! I always know where half of my christmas gifts are from! When I was younger (and oh-so-cool) it used to bother me because the only people I knew who bought from QVC were my grandma's friends. But the past few years, Mom given me some AMAZING things--a really nice pilates reformer, bare minerals makeup, and a red corduroy jacket that i wear so much that when i don't wear it, my best friend asks, "jacket at the drycleaner?" The secret is out--QVC is AMAZING!
