Reflections

As 2007 drew to a close its hard to not reflect back on the year--the events that happened, the people I met, the people I lost, the friendships that strengthened, and all the other times. I know how popular these reflection type blogs are so, here goes.

The year has made me realize how lucky I am in the friend department. My best friends mean the world to me and I was lucky to enjoy many times with them that I will always remember and treasure -- birthday parties, concerts, a graduation party, trips to drovers, the annual Halloween party, playing games, singing karaoke and just hanging out. I am surrounded by the greatest people who I know would do just about anything for me and I hope they know I would do the same for them.

Loss was also a sad part of my year. One of my mentors passed away and she definitely helped to shape my life and the person I have become in the past 8 years. Her guidance was invaluable and her strength to keep going inspirational. As many of you know, Muffin was also put to sleep this year which was definitely the worst day of my life. Her loyaly and companionship were unmatched and I was very lucky to have her as my dog for 17 1/2 years.

As always there were lessons learned--some practical, some humbling, some life changing, some inconsequential in the grand scheme of things but all were important. Old friendships can be repaired. Time does help heal old wounds. Some things are better left in the past. Roadtrips can lead to the unexpected. Sometimes you have to suck it up and ask for help. You can never go wrong with friends, beer and fried food. You are the only one who can control your attitude. Just because you drive a yellow car, its not submarine and should not be driven through water. Flip cup will F*% you up faster than anything. Reading a book is more than just passing the time. Laughter through tears is the best emotion.

I hope you all have an awesome 2008!
