101 Things

I've read on other blogs "about me" type of posts and thought they were pretty cool. So decided to give it a go. Here are 101 completely random things about me ....

1. I was raised in a small town on the Ohio River.
2. I am the oldest child.
3. I have a younger brother, Adam.
4. My name is just Mandy, not Amanda like most people assume (including my great- grandmother).
5. I was named after the Barry Manilow song “Mandy” which is one of my mom’s favorite songs of all time.
6. Because of this, I have a deep, appreciative love for all things Barry Manilow.
7. I still live at home, actually my brother and I both do, not because we need to, we just actually want to.
8. My mom really likes having us live at home and it works out for all of us.
9. I am freakishly linked to my mom, we’re incredibly close and she’s one of my best friends.
10. I majored in English and History when I went to college.
11. I was originally a Political Science major, but had a huge crush on the History professor so I switched.
12. I was one of the few rare students who was able to graduate in 4 years despite having a double major and with honors to boot.
13. I have three step-siblings that I barely know, the only time we were all together was the wedding.
14. I LOVE reading, a lot.
15. Seriously, always have. As a kid, I had to be the one who always read the most books for the library summer reading program and usually was.
16. The library thinks I am dead now, it’s the only way I could return lost books without avoiding a huge fine and a long story, someday I’ll tell it.
17. I did a book report on Gone With the Wind in 5th grade, honestly.
18. I have very little common sense.
19. Along with my mother, I have a love of musical theater.
20. I used to act in musical plays as a kid with a local theater group.
21. My dream role would be playing Mama Rose in Gypsy.

28. My all time favorite movie is Gone With the Wind.
29. One year for Christmas my mom bought me a Gone With the Wind collectors plate.

31. I grew up a half hour away from where Clark Gable was born and every year they have a big festival.
32. I’ve only been there once.
33. My favorite way to add to my Gone With the Wind collection is to buy it from Ebay, cheaply.

35. I have actually been to the QVC Headquarters in West Chester, PA.
36. Its one of my favorite places to roadtrip to.
37. I have a personalized license plate that involves the letters QVC.
38. I would quit any job I have to go work for QVC for the discount alone.

40. I hate paying full price for anything.

68. I bought my first car based solely on the fact that it was yellow. I didn’t test drive it until after I had signed the papers.
69. I am not capable of keeping plants alive, which is ironic I suppose because my mom loves gardening and always has a beautiful flower garden. I, on the other hand, once killed a cactus.
70. When I was little I wanted to be a nun, which is incredibly strange because I’m not even remotely close to being Catholic and the only knowledge of nuns I had came from the movie The Sound of Music.
